What Is Reiki
What Is Reiki?

Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a Japanese word meaning “free passage of Universal Life Force.” Reiki originated in Tibet around 4,000 B.C., and was rediscovered in Japan in the 1800s. Reiki energy is extremely powerful, and yet it is gentle.

Some of the effects reported by clients are:

Reiki is used for everything from serious diseases to broken bones to the common cold. It is used by people in perfect health to maintain their health. Some people find it helps them with emotional disturbances. Many find it a doorway to spiritual exploration.

Reiki is not part of any religion or belief system. It works easily and well with the practice of all other healing modalities. In fact, an increasing number of hospitals, nursing homes, and hospice programs are including Reiki in the treatment given.

What Happens In A Reiki Session?

The practitioner gently lays her hands on or above different areas of your body. There is no pressure applied, and no moving of your body. You remain fully dressed. The Reiki energy moves through the practitioner’s hands and into your body. A treatment takes about an hour.

Most people find Reiki feels very nurturing, either deeply relaxing or tremendously energizing, and full of love and peace.
